Jackson offers up his most heart-felt vocal since Monday Morning Church, and the soft neo-traditional production serves as quite a breath of fresh air, and is equally fitting. The lyrics are simple, but not lacking in detail. Jackson loves his woman so much that he’s willing to do anything to ease her burden, her pain. His vocal performance makes certain that you don’t mistake his genuine feelings for any kind of indifference. His voice is deeper than it once was, but that only sells the sentiment more.
In many ways this song serves as a somber catharsis. Helping her get over it makes it easier for him to be ok with being over it. The end result is one of the standout releases to country radio in 2012. Whether country radio will pick up such a slow song is another question entirely, but for however long this lasts on the charts, we’ll get to enjoy a genuine throwback sad country song.
