Paper-thin lyrics really hold this one back though, as they don’t really match the up-temp flavor of the song. A slower, more light-hearted delivery might’ve sold this as charmer, but the goal here Is clearly just to rock out. And that’s ok, it sounds great sonically and the catchy beat and melody mostly make up for a fairly clunky hook that only sort of works. Besides, radio loves these kind of songs, and it’s already off to a solid start on the charts, so it was probably a wise decision. Rhett seems to have a star quality about him, and while it may take better material to truly break him out, this certainly isn’t a bad place to start.
