Rodney Atkins Cleared of Domestic Violence Charge

In a dispute that made news around Nashville and the entertainment world in late December, Rodney Atkins was ceared of a domestic violence charge by the General Sesions Court of Williamson County, a suburban county near Nashville. Read on to find out more.

The singer’s soon to be ex-wife Tammy called the police on Novenber 21 and charged that the singer, buoyed by alcohol, had tried to smother her with a pillow and alleged that he grabbed her face and threw her down the hallway.

Rodney Atkins was arrested and then released within three hours on $2,500 bail. He immediately denied the charges and sub sequentially filed for divorce.

The incident in November was called ‘an unfortunate verbal dispute’ by Adkins attorney Rose Palermo and stated “the police didn’t witness any assault because none occurred. The police did not witness any violence between Mr. and Mrs. Atkins. It’s entirely based on her word.

The singer volulentarily underwent court ordered assessments for anger management, alcohol and drug use and passed each assessment. Since they were completed, the judge ruled no further action was required by the court.
