Chart news for February 15, 2012: Dierks Bentley Finds "Home" At Number One

Valentine’s Day brought a nice boost in the album sales department for most of the genres and there was even a boost from Sunday’s Grammy Awards telecast while Dierks Bentley returns with Home to #1. Read on to find out more about this week's country albums sales!

It was a great week for Dierks Bentley, not only has “Home” continued to rise up the charts but the country radio star found his long-awaited album Home debut at #1 on the Top Country Albums chart this week. 55,000 fans took home the album featuring “Am I The Only One,” “Home” and “Thinking of You.”

1/4  of SoundScan’s Top 200 Albums Chart’s Top 20 were country music albums.

Dierks wasn’t the only good news for country music. Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party and Lady Antebellum’s Grammy Winning Own The Night rebounded inside the Top 20 with both albums experiencing nice Valentine’s and Grammy Award love.  Those albums pushed Luke Bryan down a couple of slots on the char this week but he still experienced 23,000 in sales while also gaining 20% over last week. Rounding out the Top 5 albums this week is Tim McGraw’s Emotional Traffic. In three weeks on the charts, the album has managed to sell nearly 120,000 albums.

Civil Wars, Blake Shelton lead notable albums this week

The Civil Wars made a 61 slot jump on the SoundScan Top 200 this week with Barton Hollow. The album has now sold nearly 300,000 copies for the Grammy Winning duo and no doubt a sale at Amazon and the Grammy Awards helped the band become a big time buzzworthy act. Toby Keith’s “Clancy’s Tavern” looks ready to hit Gold in the near future, his first album to do that in about three or four years. Red River Blue from Blake Shelton experienced a 20 slot jump on the SoundScan Top 200 Albums chart and this week is also the week in which Blake’s Loaded…The Best of Blake Shelton scanned Gold (501,000 and counting). Brantley Gilbert is only 52,000 albums away (or 5 weeks at his current sales pace) away from scoring his first Gold Album with Halfway To Heaven. Rounding out the rundown is the other newcomer of the week, the Waylon: The Music Inside Volume II tribute album on Average Joes Entertainment.

Other notable albums not charted include The Band Perry’s self-titled platinum album (20,000 sold), Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (13,000 sold), Scotty McCreery’s platinum-certified Clear As Day (12,000 sold), Eric Church’s nearly 600,000 scanned Chief (12,000) sold, and the Now Country Ballads compilation which has now sold 25,000 copies in three weeks on the charts.
