Four singles go Gold, The Grammy Awards and The Voice affect digital single sales and much more on this week's edition of the Top 30 SoundScan Country Digital Singles rundown! Read on to find out all of the details here!
This week, we saw how the Grammy Awards can affect the Digital Singles sales. The one-day sales from the Grammy Awards was most noticed by the Willie Nelson cover of Coldplay's "The Scientist" (Listen here) for he Chipotle charity commercial. The song went from selling less than 200 tracks and nowhere on the top 100 country song list to #19 with over 22,000 copies sold, bringing Willie's total to 47,000 since being released (quietly) last spring. Grammy Awards also influenced the sales of Taylor Swift's Grammy-winning "Mean," Aldean and Clarkson's "Don't You Wanna Stay" and Blake Shelton's "Honey Bee." The performance of "Hell On Heels" by a contestant on The Voice increased Pistol Annies sales for the track by 8,000. Gwen Sebastian's performance of Sugarland's "Stay" helped the single return to the chart at #46 with sales of nearly 9,500 tracks. The song now has sold 1,776,000 copies.
Toby & Luke still #1 and #2 but Lee Brice Is Coming on Strong!
Other notable singles this week include the top 2 of "Red Solo Cup" and "I Don't Want This Night To End" remaining unchanged while Lee Brice continues to quckly inch his way up the chart to number three this week with "A Woman Like You." The song is easily going to sale past the Gold mark and it's not even a Top 15 hit yet. Chris Young's "You" is Gold as is Pistol Annies previously mentioned track and so is the Taylor Swift/The Civil Wars Hunger Games soundtrack collaboration, "Safe & Sound." David Nail's "Let It Rain" and Garret Hedlund and Leighton Meester's "Give In To Me" single from Country Strong are now both Gold selling digital singles as well.
New Chart Entries include Willie Nelson, Lionel Richie/Shania Twain and Tyler Farr
Other new chart entries (not reflected on the Top 30 this week) are: "Endless Love," the Lionel Richie and Shania Twain duet from upcoming Tuskegee with 11,000 sold hit #41; The Dierks Bentley album track "Thinking of You" hit #53 with over 8,300 singles sold; Newcomer Tyler Farr's "Hot Mess" at #83 with nearly 6,000 singles sold while "Rhinestone Cowboy" enters at 92 with 5,300 singles sold with a total of 210,000 singles sold digitally so far.
The Grammy Awards should continue to affect next week's sales numbers (over on the album's chart, Adele's going to sell over 500-600,000 copies this week because of the Grammy Awards). As always, look here to find out all the details.
