Chart news for January 25, 2011: Toby Keith's Clancy's Tavern Returns To Number One

Thanks to "Red Solo Cup" and "Made In America," Toby Keith is experiencing his best sales success in nearly four years with Clancy's Tavern. Read on to see how well the album sold this week along with the rest of the Top Five albums and fiv

This week, Toby Keith returns to Number One on the charts, giving him his best album sales cycle in virtually four years (since That Don't Make Me A Bad Guy went Gold in 2008.)

Thanks to remarkable sales at Target and online at Amazon, Toby Keith’s Clancy’s Tavern managed to leapfrog the latest albums from Lady Antebellum and Luke Bryan to return to #1 on the SoundScan Country Charts this week. Toby’s album moved 17,000 more copies, bringing the sales of the album to nearly 400,000 copies sold.  Lady Antebellum’s Own The Night is second on the chart with another 14k sold, giving the trio over 1.25 million scanned while Luke Bryan ‘s #3 album tailgates & tanlines is just shy of 700k sold on the same week “I Don’t Want This Night To End” hits #1 on the Radio singles chart (Keith’s “Red Solo Cup” still is one spot away from top 10).

The Band Perry Ride Success of “All Your Life”

With “All Your Life” selling remarkably well at digital retailers, The Band Perry’s self-titled nearly two year old album finds itself as the fourth-best selling album of the week with sales now over 1.1 units scanned at retail. The band will likely move onto a new single from their upcoming sophomore release after “All Your Life” ends its chart run (which likely will be #1). Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party lands at #5 on the Top Current Country Albums rundown this week with sales now scanning past 2.3 million. The next and final single “Fly Over States” is set to be released soon. It’s the first time Jason will have released 5 singles from an album. In reality, they could probably release six or seven songs from this project but they’re set to release a new single this summer and release the follow-up album in the fall (around October or November).

Scotty McCreery and Taylor Swift Lead Notable Albums This Week

Scotty’s Platinum-certified album moved another 11,000 copies this week, good for a 7% sales increase, while his single “The Trouble With Girls” continues its move up the chart to #23 this week. Taylor Swift’s Speak Now gained 37% at retail this week and moved 9k more copies to give the star less than 50k to go until she officially scans past the 4m sold mark. The album is already certified quadruple Platinum. Tim McGraw is likely to debut at #1 next week with Emotional Traffic and this week he returns to the Top 10 and our notable albums rundown this week with Number One Hits moving another 9k units to bring sales to over 545k, which is good for Platinum according to the RIAA’s measurements (double albums get counted twice per sale).

Martina’s  Last  RCA Album Debuts While She Scores First Top 10 in 5 Years

Martina McBride is now onto a new label in Republic Nashville (and back in the Top 10 with “I’m Gonna Love You Through It”, her first time there since “Anyway” from 2007) but she’s back inside our chart rundown thanks to old label RCA Nashville’s Hits and More compilation landing at #44 on the Top 200 Albums chart and into our notables section as this week’s highest (and only) album debut. The record features 15 of her biggest hits and a couple un-released singles.

Rounding out this week’s rundown is Hunter Hayes. “Storm Warning” is nearing the Top 10 – it’s been top 15 for a few weeks now – and that’s helped his strong self-titled debut week its way to 100,000 copies sold. Other strong performers this week were Brantley Gilbert’s Halfway To Heaven, Eric Church’s Chief (8,000 each), Blake Shelton’s Loaded: The Best of Blake Shelton, George Strait’s Icon with 6,000 sold each while Blake and George’s current albums (Red River Blue & Here For A Good Time)joined Lauren Alaina’s Wildflower, The Pistol Annies Hell On Heels and Eli Young Band’s Life At Best with 5,000 copies sold, respectively.

Next week we’ll see the debut of Kellie Pickler’s 100 Proof and Tim McGraw’s Emotional Traffic. Both should easily hit 1 and 2 on the country charts with McGraw having an outside shot at #1 on the Top 200 Current Albums chart, depending on if enough loyal fans purchase the album – some have said they wouldn’t cause of the oft-reported dispute about the record. As always, we’ll have you covered here!
