Reigning CMA Male Vocalist of the Year Blake Shelton has invited Kenny Loggins to join him during a performance of the classic hit “Footloose” as the opening song of the 45th Annual CMA Awards next Wednesday.

The show, which is going to be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will broadcast for three hours from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday November 9, starting at 8pm Eastern/Pacific. Previously announced performers include Shelton’s wife and 2010 CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, The Band Perry, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Sara Evans, Faith Hill, Lady Antebellum, Scotty McCreery, Martina McBride, Sugarland, Thompson Square, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Chris Young and Zac Brown Band. Kenny Chesney will be joined by Grace Potter. Urban, Paisley and Vince Gill will perform a tribute to Glen Campbell. Rascal Flatts will be joined by Natasha Bedingfield while Lionel Richie will be performing select duets with Little Big Town, Darius Rucker and Rascal Flatts (to highlight upcoming country duets album Tuskegee). The hosts will perform their first live televised performance of the #1 duet “Remind Me” as well.

“Footloose” is the theme song for the two films of the same name, the 1984 original and the 2011 remake. Kenny Loggins wrote the song with Dean Pitchford (the writer of the films). It was a #1 hit for Loggins for three weeks in 1984 and now Shelton has taken the remake and brought it up the charts.

Loggins first came to fame as part of Loggins and Messina, with Jim Messina. He’s scored hits like “Your Mama Don’t Dance,” (with Loggins & Messina) “This Is It,” “Danger Zone,” “House at Pooh Corner,” and sold over 16 million records and has written classic hits like “Danny’s Song” and “A Love Song” for Anne Murray and “What A Fool Believes” for the Doobie Brothers among many others.

Shelton has five CMA Nominations this year, including Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Album of the Year for “All About Tonight” and Single and Music Video of the Year, both for “Honey Bee.”
