UPDATE: One Time Country Star Mindy McCready and Son are NOT Missing

Mindy McCready, the singer of such hits like "Guys Do It All The Time," "Ten Thousand Angels" and more, has reportedly turned up missing with her five year old son. Read on to find out more of the details of this troubling story about a troubled soul.

UPDATE #2 (3:30pm Eastern time) From Her Publicist Kat Atwood:

NASHVILLE, Tenn (November 30, 2011)--

In regard to the misleading "missing reports" surrounding Mindy McCready and her son, Zander:

McCready and son are safe, healthy and comfortable.

No Amber Alert has been issued; this is not a missing child case. Ms. McCready has not been charged with illegal wrongdoings. Ms. McCready's number one priority has always been, and continues to be, the safety of her son. The 5-year old boy has been with his mother for more than 30 days; law enforcement officials spoke with the child and saw Zander via skype yesterday.

Ms. McCready has been awaiting an order following recent court hearings which concluded on November 4, 2011 regarding whether her child could be returned to her, and if not, whether he (Zander) would continue in the care of her mother, Gayle Inge  [NOTE: Ms. McCready is currently involved in litigation with Ms. Inge surrounding Inge's false statements as published by the National Enquirer.]

Since, at least January, 2011, Ms. McCready has been desperately advising the court, and others involved in the Ft. Myers, Florida proceedings, that Zander is in danger, both physically and emotionally, at Inge's home.  As a direct result of being a mother (not an actress, not a singer), Ms. McCready took action to ensure her son's safety.

She is encouraging a discovery investigation at this time.  Mindy appreciates sentiments of interest, thoughts and prayers, and looks forward to a final, truthful resolution.

UDATE #1 (12:30 Eastern Time):

From her personal facebook page:

"FB Friends I know it has been a long time since you have heard from me... I have been fighting the Florida court system to protect my son, and bring him home. Wink TV has once again reported nothing but lies and they are most likely being supported by the attorney for DCF child services.

There is NO AMBER ALERT and my son is not missing! Detectives from the Cape Coral Police department established that this afternoon via Skype. Please do not worry or support anything they [the mom and ex-husband] continue to lie about!! Thanks Always.... Mindy"

---Original story ----

The troubled life of Mindy McCready continues to play out. According to CMT and Florida police, the Platinum-selling star (for Ten Thousand Angels) has gone missing after she is alledged to have taken her five-year-old son Zander from his father Billy McKnight’s home in Cape Coral and then disappeared. The child, which is a product of a much-publicized and bitter relationship between the troubled singer and the equally troubled McKnight (who released an album a few years ago), actually is the custody of McCready’s mother, the woman whom Mindy once took her own siblings from after becoming a successful singer for BNA Records with hits like “Ten Thousand Angels” and “Guys Do It All The Time” in the late 1990s.

In this case, no amber alert has been issued yet because they have established that the child is with his mother but she has until 5pm Thursday to surrender Zander to authorities (or presumably his guardian, Mindy’s mother) or face arrest.

Mindy’s past includes several news headlines like domestic violence (with McKnight) cases and drug offenses (for both her and her brothers). And, it can be said officially, that her troubled life has ruined what was a promising career. Her last album was independently released in 2010.
