September 7, 2011 Chart News: Jake Owen's Barefoot Chart-Topper

Another week, another young star taking the reins of the Top Country Albums chart as Jake Owen debuts at #1 with Barefoot Blue Jean Night (the same week the title track becomes his first ever #1 hit). Read on to find out how other hit albums fared this week!

What we learned from the charts this week:

  • Luke Bryan has now sold 262,000+ copies of Tailgates & Tanlines
  • Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party has sold nearly 1.8 million copies.
  • Eric Church’s Chief crossed the 300,000 scanned mark and looks like it’ll hit Gold, perhaps before the end of 2011.
  • Pistol Annies has now sold nearly 60,000 copies.
  • Glen Campbell’s final album Ghost on the Canvas debuted with 14,400 copies now sold. He has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and is in the midst of a final tour as well.
  • Scotty McCreery has sold nearly 170,000 copies of America Idol Highlights From Season 10, an EP of songs performed on the show. His new single “The Trouble With Girls” is out now.
  • 1/3 of the Top 30 albums on the SoundScan Top 200 Albums chart are country music albums.
  • Eli Young Band has now sold nearly 60,000 copies of Life At Best in three weeks on the charts.
  • Justin Moore’s over the 225,000 sold mark for Outlaws Like Me.
  • Red Dirt/Texas Music artist Stoney LaRue debuts at 16 this week with Velvet. It’s only his second studio album (and fourth overall).
  • Lady Antebellum experienced a 15% sales increase over last week for Need You Now. Own The Night comes out next week.
  • Robert Earl Keen’s Ready For Confetti debuts at 21 this week with nearly 7,000 albums sold.
  • Sunny Sweeney has now sold 21,000 copies of Concrete.
  • Just nominated for a CMA Award in the Duo of the Year category, The Civil Wars have now sold 171,000 copies of Barton Hollow.
  • Next week we’ll see where George Strait lands (certainly #1) on the charts with Here For a Good Time.
