Dierks Bentley - "Home"

After releasing an album that he always wanted to release in the album Up On The Ridge, country star Dierks Bentley returned to #1 with "Am I The Only One," a good time song for the summer. Now he is set to release what may become the biggest single of his career.

The melody isn’t very country (in a traditional sense) but given the moods of mainstream country radio these days, I don’t think that’s much of an issue. Instead, Dierks has kept the production ‘epic’ in scale and melody without ever succumbing to being too loud and too orchestral for some tastes.

Instead, what we have is a song that feels sort of like a U2 or Coldplay-like epic ballad about the beauty that is America without ever using the words God, Bless, The, USA in them. It’s a song that people all over the world will be able to relate to, even though it’s clearly written about America.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this song ends up being used as a theme song for political campaigns this upcoming political season (2012).  If this song and “Am I The Only One” are any indications of where Dierks’ early 2012 release is heading, I think we’re all in for a treat and for an album that could very well surprise many with how many it sells the first week out, much like how Lady Antebellum did with Need You Now in 2010.

Below is a bit of the song with Dierks performing it in the studio with him also talking about the track.

Songwriters: Dierks Bentley, Brett Beavers and Dan Wilson.
