August 10 Chart News: Eric Church Remains the Chief

For the second week in a row, we find Eric Church leading the way in country music as Chief remains the top-selling country album in the USA. Read on to find out where albums from Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, The Band Perry and more landed in this week's rundown.

For the second week in a row, Eric Church has the #1 country album in the world with Chief. The album also sits at #2 this week on the SoundScan Top 200 Current Albums chart from which our weekly rundowns occur.

Here are a few notes from this week’s charts:

  • 1/3 of the Top 30 albums on the SoundScan Top 200 Current Albums chart are country music albums.
  • Eric Church has sold nearly 200,000 copies of Chief in two weeks.
  • Trace Adkins sells nearly 50,000 copies of Proud To Be Here. Roughly where debuted with Cowboy’s Back In Town in August 2010.
  • Jason Aldean has sold nearly 1.7 million copies of My Kinda Party.
  • Zac Brown Band has now sold over 1.1 million copies of You Get What You Give.
  • Justin Moore has sold over 183,000 copies of Outlaws Like Me.
  • Lady Antebellum has sold 3.6 million copies of Need You Now.
  • Rascal Flatts is nearing platinum (scanned) for Nothing Like This.
  • Nearly 2.7 million copies of The Foundation have been sold since Zac Brown Band released the album 3 years ago.
  • Lauren Alaina has now sold over  50,000 copies of her Walmart-exclusive American Idol Season 10 Highlights EP. It features “Like My Mother Does.”
  • Alison Krauss and Union Station experienced a 17% sales increase over last week as their album now has sold
  • Colt Ford will hit the 100,000 sold mark in about three weeks with Every Chance I Get.
  • Darius Rucker’s Charleston, SC 1966 has now scanned Gold.
