“It’s just a good, happy song for summertime,” he says in describing his current release. “We can crank it up with some boats and some four-wheel drives out there. I think everyone will enjoy this song.”

“I Love It” is the follow-up to his debut release on the airwaves, “Can’t Cheat In A Small Town.” The lyrics paint quite the vivid picture of a rural Dallas or Knots Landing, but Cooke says it’s all in fun.

“It might have stepped on some toes, but I think everyone knows it was a light-hearted type song,” he says, saying that releasing the song helped to establish himself with radio.  “It was a good ice-breaker to let everyone know who I was. I met a lot of people along the way, and hope I made a lot of friends and fans due to that song.”

Mark says that making the video for his debut was definitely a highlight. “I’m not an actor, but I had fun,” he says with a wink.

Making the video memorable for Cooke was getting to have a love interest in the video. He sad that he wanted to make sure he got things right in the video. “I was kind of heckled about that. We told people the kissing scene took about 37 tries before we got it right. I tried very hard,” he says with a smile.

Roughstock asked Mark about his upbringing, and he replied with a Texas drawl. “I’m from Longview---about one hundred miles east of Dallas. There’s a lot of Pine Trees, lots of country. There’s some really good deer hunting. I was born and raised there, and lived there most of my life, aside from being in the military. I moved to Nashville last year, and have really enjoyed it.”

The area that serves as birthplace for legendary  singers like Tex Ritter and Jim Reeves. who made an impact on one of his family members. “That was my Grandfather’s hero. Nobody could sing better than that guy, is what he would say,” he recalls.

Mark has both of his singles available on his web site, http://markcooke.com/default.asp. “Currentliy,  we’re working on our full album,” he says.

Getting that album out to his growing number of fans is something he is looking forward to. “It will be like a gift from God,” he said. I can’t say it was just me, as I’m just one of the puzzle pieces. It takes a promotion team, and I’ve got a good one. It takes a record label. It does take a village after all,” he says, referring to the statement made famous by former First Lady Hilary Clinton. “I can say that I am extremely happy, and I’ve got some good guys who can get the job done, and you can’t ask for any more than that!”
