"Just a Kiss" proves without a doubt that "Need You Now" was no fluke. It starts off with a simple piano melody, building up to a catchy melody with plenty of pop sheen. Unlike that fine song, "Just a Kiss" is a rather low-key ballad, playing Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott's vocals off each other finely. The lyrics aren't groundbreaking, but they aren't cliché either: each of them is in love with the other, but they don't want to rush headlong into it. Just a goodnight kiss will suffice for now. It's a fairly similar ground to "Don't You Wanna Stay" (which itself could easily have been a Lady A song, come to think of it), but by no means is it derivative. Kelley and Scott's fine vocals alone make it distinctly Lady A, but the slick, bright production and catchy melody only drive their distinctive sound home.
In short, Lady Antebellum has found its place in the musical world. It's hard to tell yet if "Just a Kiss" will be even half as successful a crossover as "Need You Now" was, but the existing momentum, combined with the anticpation over a new single, should be enough to propel "Just a Kiss" to the top of the charts yet again. Oh yeah, and the fact that it's another excellent song that plays up all of the band's strengths.
