Our final quarter of the Top 20 country albums of the week, according to SoundScan starts off with Thompson Square’s self-titled debut album.  With “I Got You” now succeeding breakthrough Platinum single “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” on the charts, the husband and wife duo has now sold nearly 150,000 copies.  Kenny Chesney’s Hemingway’s Whiskey has now sold nearly 800,000 copies as “You and Tequila” starts its run up the charts, hoping to become the fourth #1 single from the project after “The Boys of Fall,” “Somewhere With You” and “Live A Little.”  It’s possible that this recording could tie or break Rodney Crowell’s Diamonds And Dirt with five (or more) #1 hits off of the album as there is likely to be at least one more single from the album – which is only ½ a year old.  Tim McGraw’s Number Ones Hits is next with nearly 6,000 more copies hitting the hands of fans everywhere while The Zac Brown Band’s The Foundation has now nearly sold 2.6 million copies since being released nearly 3 years ago.  The More Music From Country Strong soundtrack is the 20th best-selling album of the week and it has now sold nearly 70,000 copies without much promotion at all.  With this Top 20, country music has 1/4 of the Top 80 albums sold in the United States this week, an often yet still remarkable feat.

In the interesting section of our rundown this week, we find Darius Rucker’s Charleston, SC 1966 sitting at 97 on the Top 200 Albums chart compiled by Soundscan (it’s the #21 best-selling country record this week).  Billy Currington’s Enjoy Yourself  sits at 118 this week and the album has now sold nearly 307,000 copies.  Jerrod Niemann’s “What Do You Want From Me” continues to rise up the charts while Judge Jerrod and the Hung Jury has now sold nearly 300,000 copies in 42 weeks on the charts.  The next single is scheduled to come out soon and it’s very likely going to be “One More Drinkin’ Song.” That song should really help Niemann get a lot closer to a Gold-selling record.  Whiskey Myers scored an impressive lower chart debut for Firewater, a nice achievement for a band that’s not really well known outside of Texas and Oklahoma.  Rounding out our rundown is Carrie Underwood’s Play On.  The album will likely pass the two million albums scanned mark in the next few weeks.

Next week Colt Ford’s Every Chance I Get will get a nice debut on the charts and it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he will score the #1 album in the country as his sales numbers have been strong through the years with over 500,000 phyisical albums and over a million digital tracks sold since 2008 – all without much radio exposure north of the ‘Mason-Dixon line’. As always, check back here to see where he lands on the charts.
