Carter's Chord - Wild Together

With Wild Together this trio of sisters have released their second collection of songs for fans to purchase. Is the album worth picking up? Find out what our writer had to say about the album in this exclusive album review.

The title track starts off the album and immediately showcases Carter’s Chord’s fantastic blend of family harmony and their strong songwriting with a radio-ready tune while the bluesy “I Can Break Hearts Too” shows that they have been listening to those Waylon songs they grew up listening to while “A Little Less Comfortable” is an interesting single from the album that finds the sisters singing about not letting a relationship become too ‘comfortable’ as that’s when apathy can take over the best of relationships.

With a dark and atmospheric acoustic melody, “Simple Little Screwed Up Life” has a sound that’s certainly more ‘bluegrass’ or folk pop than mainstream country music (not unlike the stuff that the Dixie Chicks used to release). Still, I wouldn’t mind hearing a song like this on my local country dial if it were released. “We Ain’t Makin’ Love” is an attitude-filled bluesy tune that showcases the growth of the band in both songwriting and vocals while “Love A Little Bigger” feels like it really could be a huge breakthrough song for Carter’s Chord if they choose to release the song as a radio single.  It’s about a song about enjoying the life that you have and to love everyone around you and be thankful for the life you have because it could be so much worse.

With Wild Together, Carter’s Chord has grown into an even stronger band than they were on Carter’s Chord and providing the right breaks, this trio of sisters will become one of country music’s biggest groups.  They’re not a cookie cutter act and have a look that screams ‘star’ while their music just keeps getting better and better.
