Kenny Chesney’s Hemingway’s Whiskey sits at #6 on the SoundScan Top Country albums chart with nearly 13,000 fans taking the record home. It’s now nearing the 700,000 sales mark and will soon unsleash “Live A Little” to country radio as the follow-up to #1 hits “The Boys of Fall” and “Somewhere With You.” The Band Perry’s self-titled debut continues its march towards gold as the album’s third single “You Lie” runs up the charts. The Country Strong Soundtrack has already given country radio two hit singles in “A Little Bit Longer” and the title track but it’s about to unleash to radio what may very well be the biggest hit from the soundtrack, Tim McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow’s duet “Me And Tennessee.” The soundtrack has now sold nearly 150,000 copies while the two singles are close to Gold. Sugarland’s The Incredible Machine has now been certified Platinum while “Little Miss” runs up the charts (after #1 “Stuck Like Glue.” The JaneDear girls’ self-titled debut lands the #10 slot on this week’s chart with over 10,000 fans picking up a copy of the polarizing recording (it’s a love or hate kind of record).

It has now sold over 2.5 million copies since being released in the fall of 2008. Our interesting albums section finds us making mention of the fantastic debut album from The Civil Wars. They’re a folksy and roots-y independent duo and scored nearly 25,000 fans on their first week of release with Barton Hollow. That was good enough for a #12 debut on the Hot 200 Albums chart. Keith Urban didn’t get a #1 single with “Put You In A Song” but he’s looking to make “Without You” a #1 as Get Closer has now sold nearly 520,000 copies. Carrie Underwood’s Play On sits at 106 on the SoundScan Hot 200 this week as the star looks to release a new single from album #4 sometime soon. Grammy nominated The Guitar Song sits at 149 on the same chart this week as Jamey releases “Heartache” to the country radio stations with hopes of a real big breakthrough with the dark but inventive single. To round out this week’s interesting section, we highlight the fantastic rootsy singer/songwriter album from the Avett Brothers. I And Love And You may not be mainstream country but it certainly falls in the big tent (like The Civil Wars do). The American Recordings release (Cash’s final label) has now sold 280,000 copies.
