The Band Perry Go Platinum

The Band Perry burst on the scene in late 2009 with "Hip To My Heart" and eventually scored a Top 20 debut with that single.  They followed that single up with "If I Die Young," a single which became their true breakthrough and was just certified platinum.

The Band Perry, the self-titled debut album from the trio has reinforced the talent of the band and with sales near 200,000 copies already, the trio is well on their way to Gold status for the album.  The single “If I Die Young” is already a gold single and today was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over 1,000,000 copies.  Given that digital singles cannot be ‘stocked,’ this means there are actually now over 1,000,000 people in the USA who actually have purchased this single.

The news of the platinum sales comes on the heels of Kimberly Perry’s nomination for “Best Country Song” Grammy for her self-composed “If I Die Young.”  The trio also recently was nominated for CMA and ACA awards but failed to win.  Look for that status to change in 2011 with upcoming American Country Music Award nominations on the horizon.
