Warner Brothers Nashville to Release "Original Songwriter Demos"

Warner Brothers Records Nashville announced today that they are releasing (Oct. 19) a special two disc edition of Original Songwriter Demos which feature original versions of "House That Built Me," "The Dance," "Strawberry Wine," "Every Day"

After a song becomes a hit, most fans often think of it as something the singer wrote. However this isn't always the case and even when it is, sometimes the record company has to hear a 'demo' of the song before allowing them to go in and record it for their album.  With the release of Original Songwriter Demos on October 19, Warner Music Nashville is going to left fans 'behind the curtain' to hear how many singers heard the original songs for the first time.  You'll get to hear the version of "The House That Built Me" that made Miranda Lambert cry, the version of "I Hope You Dance" that inspired Lee Ann Womack to give the performance of her career and the demo that Garth Brooks loved so much in "The Dance," a song that is played at both weddings AND funerals (quite the accomplishment). Some of the recordings may be 're-touched' but are still played out as they had originally placed them on the 'pitch CD.' (A pitch CD is an 'album' of songs a songwriter thinks would be a fit for the artist, it is one of these CDS which Blake Shelton was sent that gave Miranda her career-defining ballad).

“I’ve always questioned why we couldn’t do something with these great demo performances,” says Scott Hendricks, Senior VP of A&R at Warner Music Nashville and executive producer of the album. “This is a fantastic collection of music that, for the first time, allows the audience to peek behind the curtain and hear the songwriters' original visions and recordings of the most popular country songs from the last 20 years. These are the exact recordings the artists heard, fell in love with and consequently made into the hits we all know today.”
