It's now the 'dog days of summer' and to help give fans something to look forward to when the calendar is nearing the end of the year, it was announced today that country music would be getting a fourth 'major' awards show, by far the most in the music industry.

It's now the 'dog days of summer' and to help give fans something to look forward to when the caleendar is nearing the end of the year, it was announced today that country music would be getting a fourth 'major' awards show.  This one, like CMT's show, is gonna be fan-voted.

To be broadcast on December 6 by the Fox network, the awardshow would be a two-hour affair and will focus, as all these shows do, on mainstream country music.  The American Country Awards will be 100% fan-voted and will be broadcast live on the east coast from Las Vegas (also home to the Academy of Country Music - ACM - Awards).  November will bring the grand daddy of all country music awards shows, the Country Music Association - CMA - Awards

What do you think? Do you watch any of the award shows? Will you plan on watching this award show? Do you think they'll have some Christmas music in the telecast given its December airdate?
