Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood To host CMA Awards

Once again, Arista Nashville artists Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood have been chosen as the hosts for the CMA Awards telecast in November.  This will be the third time the trio has hosted.

The Famed Circle from Ryman Auditorium returns to Grand Ole Opry House

The famous circle was returned to the Grand Ole Opry House this week as the rebuilding of the Opry House is almost completed.  While damaged a bit, the circle wasn’t beyond repair and that will allow the Opry to open ahead of schedule on September 28.  They will be celebrating both the reopening and the 85th anniversary. 

Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives Play Nashville for the First Time

Marty Stuart, who formed his band the Fabulous Superlatives eight years ago, performed with the band at a packed showcase for the band's new album Ghost Train: The Studio B Sessions. The9513's Pierce Greenburg chornicled the event.

Little Big Town Discuss New Album

In an interview with The Canadian Press, Capitol Nashville artists Little Big Town discuss their new album The Reason Why and how their outlook on life has allowed the band to percevere through difficult times and come out of it with great new material which is featured on the new recording.

Brad Paisley Plays First Stadium As Headliner

For his first stadium gig as the big cheese, Brad Paisley chose that country music hotbed of Boston (rather the Boston area) as he performed to a sold-out gig at Foxboro Massachusetts’ Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots.

Lady Antebellum, Trace Adkins score on the Charts this week

While Trace Adkins had the Top-selling country album this week with nearly 50,000 copies of Cowboy’s Back In Town sold, Lady Antebellum set new records with three of their albums landing inside country music’s Top 10 at the same time. The newest addition, iTunes Sessions is a ‘live’ studio EP recorded exclusively for iTunes.  It has the series’ best first-week of sales ever.   Other interesting nuggets are the Band Perry’s appearance on the Hot 200 with their EP The Band Perry EP

Fall New Release Schedule Gets Bigger

This fall is already shaking up to be one star-studded event but now with word that Keith Urban will release his next record in November along with Brad Paisley’s Anything Like Me: Hits Alive 2 disc live/hits collection. 

60s Country Music Star Passes Away

Bill Phillips, the singer of 4 Top 10 hits in the 1960s, passed away this week at the age of 74. He most famously was the first person to record a song written by Dolly Parton (“Put It Off Until Tomorrow”).

Doug Stone Arrested for DUI in Tennessee

Once again, 90s country star Doug Stone has found himself in trouble with the law.  After a very public fight with his son last year, Doug was arrested again this week, this time for a first offense of driving under the Influence of alcohol.   

James Otto & Wife Welcome New Edition to family

James Otto and his wife Amy welcomed their first child, Ava Katherine, to the world this week.  Otto’s upcoming album Shake What God Gave Ya is set for a September release with Top 30 single “Groovy Little Summer Song” and new single “Jesus and Soldiers” featured on the album.

The McClymonts Added To Jason Aldean Tour

Australian trio The McClymonts will continue to support the release of their debut album Chaos and Bright Lights with a slot opening up for Jason Aldean on his Wide Open tour this fall:

Rock Band Video Game gets Some Country

Fans of the popular video game series will now be able to download extra content (DLC) for their PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.  Songs included in this update are from the likes of Sugarland, Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, Laura Bell Bundy and Jamey Johnson.
