Tuesday News Briefs: $1.7 Million raised for Flood Relief; Thompson Square, Wynonna, CMT Awards

In today's rundown of the latest news, we give you updates about this past Sunday's live telethon/concert on GAC, Wynonna Judd, more performers for the CMT Music Awards and a Thompson Square "Ultimate Fly Away" contest.

GAC "Music City: Keep On Playin" raises Millions for Flood Relief

Sunday night on GAC, country fans from around the USA witnessed the first ‘major’ benefit concert for Flood relief.  The event, which took place at the Ryman Auditorium (a.k.a. “The mother church of country music”) in downtown Nashville, TN, raised over $1.7m that will be going directly to the community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, the organization processing and distributing donations.  If you’d still like to help, you can donate $10 by texting GAC to 501501 or by clicking here.  Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley donated $100,000 while the ACM donated $250,000 to the event.  Artists participating in the concert included

Wynonna To Appear On “I Get That A Lot.”

The CBS spring/summer series features celebrities ‘tricking’ everyday citizens in a case of supposed “mistaken identity.” Working ordinary jobs, the celebrities confuse customers who cannot decide if they are the actual celebrity or somebody who looks strikingly similar.  This brings out various reactions from the customers of the celebrities.  Eventually the celebrity does reveal their true identity. 

Wynonna will be on tomorrow’s show on May 19 from 8-9pm ET/PT.  She also has a line of clothing and accessories debuting at Cracker Barrel along with a new CD Love Heals next week.

CMT Adds More Performers to 2010 CMT Music Awards

The 2010 CMT MUSIC AWARDS’ star-studded perfomer line-up gets even hotter with the addition of country megastars Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley and Zac Brown Band on Wednesday, June 9 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.  They will take the stage at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena along with recently announced host Kid Rock, who will add performer to his list of duties, and Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban, when country music’s only fan-voted awards show airs LIVE on CMT and CMT.com.
