Todd O'Neill - "Somethin' With Some Attitude"

It’d be very easy to dismiss Todd O’Neill’s latest single for Aria Records Nashville as but another attempt likely to make a dent on any of the major singles charts.  To do this would be a mistake as this single has a lot of likeability to it.

It’d be very easy to dismiss Todd O’Neill’s latest single for Aria Records Nashville as but another attempt likely to make a dent on any of the major singles charts.  To do this would be  a mistake as “Something With Some Attitude” is everything people would want in a summertime song. It rocks, it rolls and it is guaranteed to make people, as James Otto sings, “Shake What Your Momma Gave Ya.”  In fact, the production, the vocal and the cadence of the whole song recalls something that would fit James Otto’s own set.

Todd O’Neill, who released the strong Real Life album in 2008, is coming on strong with a single that is as good as anything the major labels have and to add to that, the single works well within the mainstream of country music.  It’s frisky, it’s attitude-laced and, on top of all of that, Todd O’Neill can really sing.  While this might be ‘shouted’ by Houser like “Boots On,” or “Whistlin’ Dixie,” O’Neill infuses his Louisiana soul into the song and makes it burn hot like the embers of a fire.   It’s that good and it’s made my 2010 summer barbeque playlist and it should make yours as well.
