Easton Corbin - "Roll With It"

With "A Little More Country Than That" giving Easton Corbin his first #1 single with his very first single is impressive.  Will he be able to join Dierks Bentley and Darius Rucker as artists to return to the top with a follow-up single? Is "Roll With It" that single?

Following in the footsteps of an exclusive list that includes artists like Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley and Diamond Rio, Easton Corbin’s debut single “A Little More Country Than That” scored the #1 spot on the album singles chart.  With that song likely to be one of 2010’s most-played singles, how does Easton follow the song up? Well, you go back to the well and pick another song from Easton Corbin, a debut album chock-full-o-hits waiting to happen.

Mercury Nashville picked “Roll With It,” the lead-off single from the album and also the second of two songs (including “More Country”) on the advertising sticker on the cellophane wrapper of the album.  Written by Tony Lane, David Lee and Johnny Park, “Roll With It” is another slice of neo-traditional country music that goes down as smooth as a shot of top-shelf whiskey.  The lyrics speak to me as a person as the thoughts about going with the flow and enjoying life are really what I’m all about.  I worry about things as they cross my table, which is what this song is all about.

Fans of George Strait will likely like “Roll With It” as well as it’s another track that really could’ve been on any of his albums from the last 20 years.  Vocally Easton recalls George but there are parts of his vocal phrasing that recall a younger Merle Haggard or contemporary Joe Nichols as well.  This is a perfect summer time single from an artist who looks primed to become one of country music’s next big superstar artist.
