While not an award show heavy on music, The Oscars did hand out a few music focused awards and one of those awards was for “Best Original Song.”  In a category featuring a French song, a pair of Randy Newman tunes and something else, Ryan Bingham and T-Bone Burnett (The man behind the Oscar-winning O Brother film soundtrack) co-wrote the theme song to the film Crazy Heart.  Called “The Weary Kind,” the song has done more than having a major label has done for Bingham’s career, it has given him a major award as he and T-Bone took home the Oscar for the category.

Later in the night we found out that Jeff Bridges won the Best Actor award from the Oscar.  To see what all the fuss is about, feel free to listen to “The Weary Kind” and check out our review of the Crazy Heart soundtrack here.
