Williams Riley - "Sweet September"

Williams Riley have released a couple of previous singles and while those two have been great showcases for their talent, "Sweet September" feels exactly like the kind of harmony-rich country vocal that Diamond Rio used to own.  Will it be their breakthrough hit?

Williams Riley managed to get their last single, "Country Livin'" into the Top 50 of the Country Charts as an independent artist and after the previously strong single "I'm Still Me," the trio has developed a history of delivering radio great-sounding and sharply written tunes.  "Sweet September," which Williams Riley band member Derek George co-wrote with Neil Thrasher, gives the trio (which features Steve Williams and Charlie "Riley" Hutto) a third great-sounding single in a row.

They could've released but another 'tempo' track for the summertime audience but smartly chose to release a ballad that showcases Williams Riley's strong 3-part vocal harmonies.  Lyrically "Sweet September" tells a story of first love that's easy to relate to and with those harmonies, the song sounds as good as a glass of ice cold sweet tea tastes on a hot summer day.

Will "Sweet September" be the breakthrough hit that Williams Riley is looking for, I don't know but like everything else they've recorded since they've come out, it's high quality country music ripe for radio airplay that is as strong as anything that the major labels have released as of late.  This one's highly recommended.
