For the third week in a row, Lady Antebellum is perched high atop the Nielsen SoundScan Hot 200 Albums chart with their sophomore release Need You Now. While the band is perched there, they did lose the distinction of 2010’s best-selling week and the Top spot to Sade’s once-every-decade release called Soldier Of Love. Lady Antebellum sold another impressive 207,000 albums barely dropping in sales in their third week. This gives the trio nearly 900,000 albums sold in three weeks. The next country album on the chart tally this week is Josh Turner’s fine Haywire album. The fourth album from the baritone found nearly 100,000 homes its first week on the charts, thanks largely to the chart-topping single “Why Don’t We Just Dance.” Taylor Swift slips down to second (and 10th overall) on the country tally this week as Fearless continued a remarkable run on the charts. Fourth (and 13th on the charts) is the Zac Brown Band with their sturdy Foundation album. Rounding out the Top Five this week is the debut for the film soundtrack Valentine’s Day. The soundtrack, which was released by the Valory Music Company and features Taylor Swift, Steel Magnolia and Jewel, sold nearly 30,000 copies in its first week on the charts.

Carrie Underwood slips two spots to 6th on the country albums chart this week while the album slips five spots on the Nielsen SoundScan Hot 200 Albums chart. I guess chart spots really are just a “Temporary Home.” Lady Antebellum’s self-titled debut is next at 7th on the chart and the fans that purchased the record helped get it passed 1.5 million copies sold, a plateau that will be passed by Need You Now in a matter of a couple months given its current sales success. Jason Aldean holds steady on the Hot 200 Albums chart at 32 but falls two spots on the album chart this week with his Wide Open album. Like most of the albums this week, Aldean benefitted from Valentine’s Day and saw a nice sales increase. He’s now sold nearly 1.1 million albums. The Crazy Heart OST makes a nice 11 spot jump on the Hot 200 Albums chart, enough to return it to the Top 10 of the Hot Country Albums chart. Darius Rucker is next and while he fell three spots to tenth on the country tally, he actually moved up 4 spots on the overall chart. He’s now safely over the 1.3 million mark with Learn To Live.

Tim McGraw leads the next five in this remarkable sales week for country music as he’s quickly followed by Miranda’s Revolution, Taylor’s venerable self-titled album and the latest albums from Keith Urban and Chris Young. They make up the 11-15 section of the Hot Country Albums Chart. Luke Bryan leads the ‘interesting’ section of the chart this week with his Doin’ My Thing album holding steady on the Nielsen SoundScan Hot 200 Albums’ #100 spot. He’s immediately followed by Toby Keith at 101 with American Ride. Five spots after Toby you’ll find Reba at 126 with her nearly gold Keep On Loving You album. Reckless Kelly debuts at 129 with one of the best traditional country albums released so far in 2010 in Somewhere In Time while Brad Paisley holds down the final ‘interesting’ album slot of the week at 138 with American Saturday Night, the album which saw its title track hit Billboard’s #1 this week.

Next week is light on major releases and it will be interesting to see if Lady Antebellum can continue their remarkable sales story with Need You Now. Come back this time next week to see how they did, until then, have a good week.
