Rascal Flatts Sing About Dying dogs?

When Rascal Flatts makes an appearance at the Bryce Jordan Center at Penn State University, more than a few students at the University are excited to see the platinum country-pop acts perform.  Some interesting points in this student-written article are that "Rascal Flatts have brought country music mainstream" while one 'country-rock' artist/student says that the genre doesn't appeal to all people because it is very much a genre of cliches like "I get a little bored with them ... a lot of country songs -- the old dog died, the lady left me, I'm driving in my truck -- they're all the same."  I have to wonder has this student actually listened to country music lately?  Where are the old dog songs?

Miranda Lambert Discusses Touring with Brad Paisley

Country music star Miranda Lambert may be Grammy-nominated and touring behind a popular new album and her best single yet in "White Liar" but that doesn't stop the singer from keeping an eye out for the prankster that is her tourmate Brad Paisley saying in an recent interview, "I'm looking over my shoulder all the time." The singer then goes into detail about how her parent's P.I. career helped her shaper her observational skills as a songwriting and her relationship with Blake Shelton.

Western Swing & Jazz Artist Jimmy Wyble Passes Away

Jimmy Wyble passed away at 5:25 a.m. this past Saturday morning. He'd been suffering with a respiratory disease for many months but was in no pain when he died. He was, even at that hour, with friends who were standing vigil. Fortunately, the hospital sent him home yesterday so he could be in a more pleasant and familiar place. And fortunate as well that the guitar community had paid homage to Jimmy formally and informally over the past couple of years so he got to see his contribution and career honored while he was still with us. He would have been 88 on the 25th of this month." -Noted guitarist Jim Carlton
