Brad Paisley - "American Saturday Night"

Brad Paisley has been on a creative high recently while also scoring 11 consecutive number one hits on the charts.  "Welcome To The Future" was one of 2009's best songs, how does the follow-up single, the current album's title track, hold up to it? Will it be #12?

It’s easy to overlook an amazing fact about Brad Paisley.  Lost in the platinum albums, sold-out concert dates, hosting gigs and award wins is the fact that Brad Paisley remains one hell of a songwriter.  While many songwriters have periods where creativity ebbs and flows, Paisley seems to consistently be working at an insanely high level of creativity.  After the important message of “Welcome To The Future,”  Brad Paisley will be going for his twelfth chart-topping single in a row (on both charts) with the title track to his American Saturday Night album.

Like friend and fellow artist Keith Urban, Brad mixes in some great guitar work within his love song to the diversity that is America.  While Toby Keith’s similar “American Ride” tried to paint similar patriotic messages, this single finds Paisley singing lyrics like “It's like we're all livin' in a big ol' cup/Just fire up the blender and mix it all up” that tell the story in a much more interesting way.  The melody isn’t in-your-face and the lyrics aren’t snarky, instead it’s a nice, observational piece of songwriting from Brad Paisley.  There simply isn’t any way that this single doesn’t find itself at the top of the charts and while I thought “Welcome To The Future” may have been paisley’s best piece of songwriting in years, he might just have topped himself with “American Saturday Night.”
