The Lost Trailers - "Country Folks (Livin' Loud)"

The Lost Trailers scored a Top 10 hit with "Holler Back" and followed that up with "How 'Bout You Don't."  For their latest single the Lost Trailers were a bit undecided but eventually decided to release this song as a single.  Will it be a another hit for them?

The summertime has long been the period of time where country artists release their nonsensical and sometimes downright whimsical songs about having fun and enjoying life in the summer.  After having a song like this last summer in the form of “Holler Back,” The Lost Trailers have returned to radio with a song that is both nonsensical and the group’s best single to date.  While Rascal Flatts may have a song with a similar theme, “Country Folks (Livin’ Loud)” (listen here) is a lot more charming and downright sonically pleasing.  The Lost Trailer’s lead vocalist Ryder Lee and guitarist Stokes Nielsen wrote the song and while I still think “Blacktop Road” would’ve been just as good a radio single, it’s hard to argue with the choice to release this one.

From the blastin’ twin fiddles and lyrics, while a bit clichéd, to the vocal delivery from Ryder Lee, this song feels like a hit.  The Alabama-like melody and vocal cadence may be disconcerting to some but it certainly never reaches the bombastic and quirky feel of Rascal Flatts’ “Summer Nights.”  In fact, If you play them both back-to-back The Lost Trailers “Country Folks (Livin’ Loud)” just sounds and feels much better.  As far as ‘throw-away’ nonsensical singles go, “Country Folks (Livin’ Loud)” may just be the best one of summer 2009 and that should be enough to make it a fast and big hit for The Lost Trailers.
