Chris Young Scores First Chart-Topping Hit

For the first time in his short career, Chris Young has himself something that no other Nashville Star alumni has gotten, a chart-topping single.  With "The Black Dress Song." The song is the lead single from his sophomore release The Man I Want To Be.

Proving that hard work, belief and sheer will pay off; RCA Records Label artist Chris Young has scored something that doesn't happen too often for any artist, let alone an artist whose career jump started from a Television show.  Young, who won the 4th season of Nashville Star, already released one album without much success before he wrote "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)."  The song, written with Cory Batten and Kent Blazy, took about half the year to reach the top but with the belief of his label, Chris Young can celebrate.

The charismatic singer certainly has had a rough start to his career with that self-titled debut album not scoring the artist any real hits nor did Man I Want To Be (read review here) at first as lead single "Voices" stalled inside the Top 40.  Still, as with most artists, all Chris Young needed was the right song to catapult his career, which is exactly what "Getting You Home (The Black Dress Song)" has done.

In other news this week, Carolwood Records' Love and Theft has scored their first Top 10 hit single as "Runaway" climbed to number 10. The single is the trio's first song released to radio from their debut album World Wide Open (Read Review here).
