Rodney Atkins - "Fifteen Minutes"

Rodney Atkins waited a long time to get his shot at radio stardom and with his string of six Top 10 hits (five of them #1 hits), he's in no hury to go anywhere.  With that in mind, will this single keep Rodney's hit streak going or will it fall by the wayside like "Invisably Shaken?"

After struggling for over a decade to release a single, let alone a hit, Rodney Atkins has become one of country radio's most bankable stars and after scoring his 5th #1 single with "It's America," Rodney Atkins returns to radio with another song full of tempo but instead of being a pleading country rock song, "Fifteen Minutes" (Listen Here), the second single from the "It's America" album (read review here) is instead a honky tonk song about a guy who "gave up smoking, women and drinkin' last night and it was the worst fifteen minutes of my life..." that's the hook of this short two minute and forty-five second song and aside from the somewhat awkward intro, the song works.  It's fun and with the steel guitar-lead melody, "Fifteen Minutes" somehow works and dang if it doesn't recall a mid 1990's Tim McGraw single.

The song isn't meant to be serious and that's exactly what people want during their summer parties or at their local bar, which is where this single will really find its grove.
