Mac McAnally Signs with Show Dog Records

One of Country music's most respected singer/songwriters, has found a new label home at Toby Keith's Show Dog Records.  McAnally, who recently scored his first performance #1 with Kenny Chesney and Mac's self-penned "Down The Road," is said to be working on a new CD.

Today brought the news that one of Country music's most respected singer/songwriters and producers was signed by another well-regarded singer/songwriter and producer.  After scoring his first #1 as a singer as Kenny Chesney's duet partner on the simply poetic "Down The Road," Mac McAnally has signed by Toby Keith to his Show Dogs Records label.  Keith's reasoning for signing McAnally was pretty simple:

"There's nobody more respected, at least when it comes to musicians and
people who really know this business, than Mac McAnally
," says the Show Dog
proprietor. "There aren't a lot of guys you put in that category
and I've gotten to work with a few. So getting to be a part of whatever Mac
wants to do is an honor for me, and for everyone at the label
."

McAnally, who has written five other chart-topping hits as a songwriter, won 2008's "Musician of the Year" from the Country Music Association for his stellar guitar work, which has found Mac on stages with artists as diverse as Roy Orbison, Hank Williams, Jr., Amy Grant, Travis Tritt, Linda Ronstadt, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Dolly Parton and Jimmy Buffett, with whom Mac continues to tour with as a part of his Coral Reefer band.

In addition to the CMA Award, Mac is a member of the Nashville songwriter's Hall of Fame and last year saw himself get inducted into the Mississippi Musician's Hall of Fame as well.  Mac was also the first artist signed to Geffen Records, as a 16 year old.   With the signing to Show Dog, McAnally is likely to be hard at work at recording his next album.  Here's hoping that radio gives him a shot without superstar duet support.
