Such a promising start filled with reflective lyrics and slowly building tension is quickly forgotten 50 seconds into Craig Morgan's "God Must Really Love Me." That’s because this is the exact moment the chorus hits. After increasing the tension through a pounding bass drum, stark piano chord progression and rhythmic guitar, Morgan loses the moment with a chorus that is for lack of a better term . . . a bit cheesy. And is that an auto-tune effect in the middle of the line, "The only reason why I’m still alive is God must really love me"?
Craig Morgan left Broken Bow Records for supposed 'artistic freedom to choose the songs he wanted' at BNA Records yet this is the supposed second best song off of "That's Why" (Read the Roughstock review here)? Really?
