Top 40 Singles of 2008: Trisha Yearwood - "This Is Me You're Talking To" (#2)

Now we're down to the nitty gritty of this year's best Singles of 2008 countdown.  This song, today's #2 song is a special song.  From the first time we heard it in late 2007, we were mesmerized.

Over the course of her nearly 20 years as a recording star, Trish Yearwood has recorded more than her fair share of great or “career” songs.  Beautifully written by Tommy Lee James and Karyn Rochelle, “This Is Me You’re Talking To” is the kind of song that makes purchasing albums so rewarding.  It’s one of those songs that you love so much that you secretly hope that it never gets played on radio for they may latch onto it and over play it. Nevertheless, Big Machine Records did release it for radio airplay and I guess my ‘secret hope’ has come true as this single didn’t get higher than 25 on the charts.  Still Trisha’s great vocal on the song (it’s probably in the top 2 or 3 songs of her career) makes it worth purchasing “Heaven, Heartache & The Power Of Love” just to hear the song over and over again (whilst reading the lyrics/liner notes of the song).

Be sure to return to Roughstock tomorrow as we reveal the top song on Roughstock's Top 40 Singles of 2008 list.  We will also include a list of the other 40 songs just in case you came late to the countdown.  Happy New Year!
