Jason Aldean - She's Country

With its debut on the 42nd CMA Awards telecast last night, Jason Aldean couldn't have picked a better spotlight for "She's Country." Will that major exposure help this song fuel interest in Aldean's upcoming third album? Does the song stack-up well against other current hits?

The first time most people heard "She's Country" was on the CMA Awards show last night but the first time I heard this song was today, when I downloaded it.  The crunchy distorted alt-rock style guitars favored by Aldean on "Hicktown" and "Johnny Cash" are present here, thus continuing a trend to release "rockin'" lead singles to country radio in advance of his upcoming albums.  Of the three, "She's Country" might be the most 'bone crushing' in melodic structure.  While Aldean wears a hat, he actually is singing a 1980's-like metal song with some country progressions and lyric.  The lyrics roll off Aldean's tongue in list-like fashion, a trend I'd be happy to see end, yet somehow I still like this song.  While I can see traditionalists getting angry over this song being played next to a George Strait track, it will fit nicely next to the Taylor Swifts and Keith Urbans of this modern, new mainstream country-pop era.  Also, it's not far removed from something that a Texas Country artist might put out.
