Darius Rucker, Kristy Lee Cook lead new releases this week

It's the last week of summer yet it feels like the fall release schedule is upon us as high profile releases are starting to rapidly appear on store shelves.  Darius Rucker, Kristy Lee Cook, Eric Durrance and Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicolson are out of the gates this week.

Still believed to be named Hootie, Darius Rucker found fame and fourtune with his band "Hootie & The Blowfish" 13 years ago but has always been interested in country music.  So while other cross-overs to country music haven't always worked or seemed completely genuine, Darius Rucker's has.  Read the review.

Kristy Lee Cook scored on American Idol as the resident country bumpkin of season seven.  After being signed to Arista Nashville in the early part of this decade as a teenager, Kristy Lee is now back with the label.  Recorded in one week, "Why Wait" is a 10 song affair that features the first single "15 Minutes of Shame" and her cover of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA."  Read the Review

Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson are stars in Austaralia and have both released albums to critical acclaim here in the states. "Rattlin' Bones" is a fine duet album from the married couple that harkens back to classic albums from the likes of Johnny & June and George and Tammy and Conway and Loretta.  Read the review.

The Eli Young Band has matured in their 8 years on the Road.  They've released two albums on the independent Carnival Recording Company label before signing with Republic/Universal South for their major label debut album. Jet Black & Jealous is a record that presents what an Eli Young Band show would sound like if you were to witness them live. Eric Durrance first gained a little notice as the frontman of Christian rockers Big Dismal.  After that group broke-up, Durrance returned to roots as a singer/songwriter and came to Nashville, getting Wind-Up Records to open up a Nashville division in the process. Working with producer Mark Bright (Blackhawk, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts). During the CMA Music Festival, Eric had the chance to sit down and discuss his career with Roughstock.
