Subject: Request for re-post of What I really Meant To Say by Cindy Thompson (revised)

There is a version of this already posted. I play it very differently and
decided to contribute my version. It's simple, but it does the trick...at
least for me. :-) So here it is.

What I Really Meant To Say
Cindy Thompson

Capo 1st Fret

Intro: C F

Verse 1:
F
It took me by surprise
F
When I saw you standing there
C
Close enough to touch
C
breathing the same air
F
You asked me how I've been
C G
I guess that's when I smiled
Am
And said just fine
G
Oh, but baby, I was lying

Chorus 1:
C G
What I really meant to say
Am
Is that I'm dying here inside
F
And I miss you more each day
C
There's not a night I haven't cried
G
And baby, here's the truth
Am (C*)
I'm still in love with you
F
Yeah...that's what I really meant say

Verse 2 (same chords as verse 1:)
And as you walked away
The echo of my words
Cut just like a knife
Cut so deep it hurt
I held back the tears
Held onto my pride and watched you go
I wonder if you'll ever know

Chorus 2 (same chords and lyrics as chorus 1)

Chorus 3 (same chords as chorus 1, alternate lyrics:)
What I really meant to say
Is I'm really not that strong
And no matter how I try
I'm still holding on
And here's the honest truth
I'm still in love with you
F C
That's what I really meant to say
F C
That's what I really meant to say
F C
That's what I really meant to say

The (C*) is a transitional chord, played quickly. Of course, you have to do some additional playing around with the chords (add some 7's and 9's here and there for effect) and listen to the song to get the changes. Hope this works for you guys, too! Happy picking!
