MY BABY AND MY WIFE

[1] When twilight shadows are fallin'
and [4] my day's work is [1] done
'Tis then I wend my way back to my [5] home
And the [1] light I find there shining
like a [4] guiding star to [1] me
To show me the [5] right road from the [1] wrong
It's [5] there a girl is waiting
with a [1] baby On her [6-7] knee
And to [2-7] see them it just fills my heart with [5] joy
Be-[1]-cause I truly love them
they [4] mean the world to [1] me
It's my wife and my [5] precious baby [1] boy
And when our meal is over
we're sitting by the fire
And the baby crawls around there on the floor
My thoughts then turn to heaven
and I thank the lord above
For the blessings he has let come in our door
I know I'm not deserving
the blessings he has sent
I try and try and yet i go astray
But I will keep on praying for the lord
to help me be
The man i want my boy to be someday
The time just rolls right on around
the clock is striking nine
And the baby is a-yawning now and then
My wife she gently picks him up
and starts to rockin' him
I can feel a tuggin' at my heart within
His head up on her shoulders
her neck his arms entwine
His eyelids are heavy as can be
Then he gives up the struggle
and snuggles close to her
It's a sight that's worth more
than this world to me
Then when he is in dreamland
she tucks him in his bed
And side by side we two kneel down and and pray
We ask the lord in heaven
to watch our darling boy
And to help him walk
the straight an' narrow way
At times this world seems dweary
and hardships come my way
As I struggle on thru this life
But my cares all just vanish
when I reach that little home
To be greeted by
my baby and my wife
