Subject: "That's Why I Sing This Way" by Daryle Singletary

This song has quickly become a favorite of mine from Daryle and I hope everyone else enjoys it. This is my first post, so any corrections will be appreciated. This sounds pretty close though.

(G)Momma used to tell me son you better get your work done. Your daddy's coming home at (D)five. And if you ain't all through with the chores you gotta do, boy he's gonna tan your (G)hide. I was glued to the radio listening to my heroes singin' those sad old(C) songs. Singin' em sadder than a (G)one car funeral.(D) Nobody sings like (G)Jones.

(G)I used to (C)take that ole broom up to my room and I'd (G)play it like an old guitar. (A7)or sit out on the porch tryin' to sing like George, (D)thinkin' about becoming a star. (G)Things I never did when I was just a kid have made me what I am(C) today. You see momma used to whip me with a (G)George Jones album.(D) That's why I sing this (G)way.

(G)So I ended up in Nashville working at a sawmill just to be close to the (D)stars. I got a little broke but I couldn't tell my folks so I had to hock my ole(G) guitar. I still hang around Tux's Orchid Lounge thinking he'd walk through that(C) door. But a voice in my mind says (G)your wasting your time (D)cause George don't drink(G) no more.
