misc - "tribute to the trinity-crd"

#

Subject: Rare song

This is the "b" side to a song called "Freeze a Yankee" about the energy
crisis, so that dates this a bit. Hopefully, I can get the afore mentioned
transcribed also. I don't know if anyone else has heard this, but here is
the song about one of the nastiest rivers in the state of Texas. Being
from Ft. Worth, Mama always said, "Flush the toilet, Dallas people gotta'
drink too."

Tribute to the Trinity
By: The Fokel Minority

(SLOWLY)
C
There's lots of things in Texas
F C
That we all hold quite dear
G
The Alamo and Cowboys, and rivers, swift and clear
C F C
South Texas has the Rio Grande, the Neches and Perdinales
F C
But we wonder why the good Lord put
G C
The Trinity in Dallas

[CHORUS](UP TEMPO)
F C
Oh mighty river, roll on Trinity
G
Through the Texas backlands, it oozes toward the sea
F C
Roll on muddy buddy, captain ring your bell
G C
We'll meet at the gulf tomorrow night if we can stand the smell

C F C
They're building lakes and bridges because the canals are planned
G
And we don't believe in river work, it's easy to understand
C F C
Imagine the confusion of a drunk man in his car
F C G C
To see the old Queen Mary go under South Lamar

[CHORUS]

C F C
We don't quite understand the things that we're deserving
G
And we just can't see the purpose that dear old muddy's serving
C F C
We've searched and searched the world and the thing that we're observing
F C G C
Just pray the rain keeps falling and the wind blows out towards Irving

[CHORUS]
[TAG] last chorus line
